Honestly, I've never even tried anything other than Pyrodex. It has worked flawlessly for me in the handful of m/l's I've had over the past 20yrs...inline, or sidelock. Never had a flinter.

I also like the smoke...to me, that is part of what makes muzzleloading what it is.
