I had a Remington 700 30-06 that I used for a while shooting Silhouettes. I had about four thousand rounds through it before it went south on me. I rebarrelet it to 280 Remington. If you reload you can extend your barrel life by reducing your loads down a bit from the Max. As said above, watch out for overheating and a good barrel should go 2000 rounds.
