There was actually a mixup in the rifle build (totally my fault).
I originally ordered the McMillan Remington Hunter stock (the one pictured on the rifle), but then changed the order to the McMillan Remington Sporter stock (no monte carlo cheekpiece).
Somehow my change got missed and the final product has the "Hunter" configuration on it. The monte carlo cheekpiece makes it pretty hard to get aligned the scope using the low Talley rings/bases.
So, HCR already has the correct stock ordered for me, and I have the choice of a "standard fill" which will keep the total gun weight the same (8.15lbs.) or they can do it in a "magnum fill" which would add about 1/2lb. to the total weight. (8.65lbs.)
So....which would you folks rather have? A .300 Win. Mag. with a total weight of 8.15lbs. or 8.65lbs.???
The lighter weight would be nice for carrying, but the 1/2lb. extra might take a little of the recoil out.
I'm not really sure that 1/2lb. either way is gonna make any much difference in recoil or ease of carry........
Opinions?
