Up by me there is a lot of baiting done. One way to bait that I have not seen discussed here much is to not hunt over bait but rather hunt trails "on the way" to the bait. A fellow I know that gets some nice deer does this. This is especially effective during the rut, bringing in does with bucks following. Also, this allows you to place bait away from your hunting spot, more on a perimeter location so you are not spooking deer up. Not much different from a food plot really, but allows one to hunt public lands with a similar "food plot" approach.
