Well after 2 weeks no one has posted the results of the 2011 'Passing on the Traditions' tournament august 6. After a slow start from pouring rain it was decided to extend the hours from 8am to 2:30pm. there were 11 teams and 3 different age groups. awards were given for heavest 2 fish, heavest fish and longest gar. Do not remember the name of the young man who won the longest gar. I can tell you it was some terriable conditions. My grand son Tyler Geers aka Mr. Extreme and I headed up to caryle dam. I figured if you can only weigh in 2 fish they might as well be big heads. We were blessed to boat 3 big heads inspite of the near white cap waves spotty sun and clouds. Was the worst conditions I have ever tried to bow fish in. Most of the teams headed to the talewaters below the Rend lake spillway. The conditions must have been worse there as only a few gar were shot and one lonely buffalo. So long story my grandson Tyler won overall heavest fish and heavest fish at 15# 15 oz. For this he won a very pretty Alpine bow. Of which his dad took possession of. Accordiing to Ryan this will be the last year of the tournament.
