Hey guys,
So I have been lurking and reading this forum for a long time now, but never really posted that much.
I know this has been beat to death but I am looking for some pointers on Unit 62. Myself and three friends are going up there to archery hunt elk the first week in September and we wanted to know about the camping and ATV's?

Can we just camp off any of the open roads? We are planning on having a base camp and going from there each day.

Also, is there a real need to bring ATV's? I have read some other places that most of the roads are closed to ATV's? Basically, we are trying to figure out if it is worth us dragging ATV's up there if we can't use them that much anyway. We would rather do the hiking, but if that is going to put us at a terrible disadvantage of getting to the elk then we will take ATV's.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated and if anyone wants to come hunt with some fun Alabama boys bring it on.
