IMO 60 grains T7 would be minimum for shots out to 100 yards. See what kind of accuracy you get with 60, 65, and 70 grains, then see what he can handle. Even with 70 grains recoil should be pretty minimal. Another option would be to use the 200 Shockwave- I've shot those with 80 grains T7 - recoil is very mild and I've taken 2 deer with this load, 1 at 40 yards and the other at 90 yards.
