First, my old Knight: A vintage LK-93 Wolverine, blued in black, 22" GMB, 54 cal. I shot some bulk sabot (MMP?) and 300 grain 45 cal XTP. Had a 1.5-5x Vari-X III on it. Light, short, carried like a dream. I could shoot a 10-12 shots from the bench with decent accuracy between swabbing. Used 90 gr Pyro RS and CCI #11 Magnum cap. A long time friend and fancier of light and handy and practical hunting tools wanted it and bought it between seasons years ago.


My new Knight: When Knight announced their restart, I payed $50 for a pre-order Bighorn in 50 caliber (Next Camo, SS, S/N 000050). It arrived about the end of May. I put a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33 on it, Knight base, Leupold Rings. I shot it for the first time yesterday. Out of a clean bore, the Barnes 290 T-EZ hits point of aim at 25 yards. After that, it is keyhole after keyhole. Only after cleaning the bore did it stabilize the bullet.

I tried shooting 70 and 90 grains of GOEX FF. I guess the T-EZ is slipping the rifling in a dirty bore. A tighter sabot might be a better choice?

Looking for Practical Accuracy: Any pointers on a projectile/sabot that will allow me good accuracy for at least 2-3 shots between swabbing? Swabbing between every shot from the bench is a pain. Swabbing in the field I think is impractical.
