Better than what? Rems are being cheapened every year and don't even come close to better made rifles like the XBolt or the Model 70. Of the two you're down to, I'd go with the XBolt in stainless and the Leupold 3x9x40 with Leupold dual dovetail mounts. A 50mm objective on that scope you mentioned isn't needed, as was mentioned previously in another post.
Better than the Browning! Maybe you should read Bigbulls post again. I think he knows what he is talking about. What has been cheapened on the Remington 700? They are identical to the guns made twenty years ago, yeah the cheaper ones with a synthetic stocks are cheaper, because of the stock, the action and barrels have not been changed. I have a twenty year old Remington 700 and it is identical to my new Remington, except for the stock.
