can you bow hunt during the shotgun season? and if so, must you have a bow tag or a gun tag? ie is the gun tag a any weapon tag? or how does that work if you wanted to bowhunt during the gun seasons?
saluki, There are some IL public lands that have site specific rules allowing archery hunting during either/both the firearm/muzzleloader seasons. You just have to go through the public hunting links on the ILDNR website to search for them. Two examples are Catlin County Park in LaSalle Co (which allows no gun hunting, and is not in the state brochure) and JEPC (2 units during muzzleloader). There are more. I have hunted such places and found extremely low hunting pressure and still good buck movement. Keep in mind the deer are getting shot at with guns on all the surrounding land and as a result may be moving more in these archery only areas.
