I have a Taurus 605 which is basically the same revolver except in .357. Mine has the Hogue grips and is also 2". And I have had the same experience as you. I normally carry it with .38s and a spare speed loader just in case. The only time I load it with .357s is in the woods and might need the little extra. But in either event, both rounds are very controllable and accurate.
