This year's Jerry Pierce Memorial tournament was the best to date!

We were just a few shooters shy of 300, in spite of the rain and thunderstorm warnings.

The crawfish and catfish feast Saturday night was mmm--mmm good!

We had 42 shooters try their hand at the "Cry Baby" novelty, and even though some scum stole two of the targets (we replaced them and went on), it was great. Out of a possible 50 (a wire around the "10" ring--inside the wire was a "5", anything else in the target was a "1") there was a 41 shot Saturday (by a sponsored Hoyt shooter--good guy, dang good shot) and a 42 shot today!!! The 42 was shot by 1/2 of the karaoke duo that sang Saturday night (they are great archers as well as singers). The high score each day took home a very nice tomahawk, decked out with antler buttons, turkey feathers, authentic stone trade beads, and the handle was laser engraved. Just ask anyone who shot it if a shot has to be long to be challenging! These were all close shots, and nobody "cleaned" it--not even a "pro" shooter!

The tournament side of the course was 30 targets and included a flying turkey, a "disco" turkey (it rotated on the ground --rigged with a swivel seat and a bungee cord), a climbing bear, and a bear in an outhouse (had to shoot before the door slammed shut). The "hunter range" was 20 shots, a bit more challenging, including a "flying" javalina.

We has shooters from as far as Oklahoma, maybe further. Missourri sure did represent, as did Alabama. We had some excellent vendors, including T.W. Arrows and J.P. Enterprises.

It was hot and humid (it's late May in MS--we call that "normal"), but we had the occasional breeze and fans blowing at the pavillion. All in all, it was a great weekend!
