I finished clearing and leveling about a 1/2 acre of area to prepare a food plot. I tilled in the recommended lime and fertilizer and planted Antler King Trophy Clover about 2 weeks ago. I was only able to go down 2 to 3 inches only in some areas because of the rock and shale but went deeper in other areas. The upper half of my plot was very rocky and doesn't appear to hold moisture well with much of the top soil being removed during the leveled process. First question I have is do you think it would be worthwhile to bring in a load or two of topsoil to this upper area possibly next year or should I try to work with what I have? Another option I'm considering is splitting my plot and planting something more drought resistant in the upper section and if so what should I plant? Anyone have any opinions?
