Personally, I will not allow a lead sled, vice or similar rest to be used on my rifles or shotguns. A long gun is not made to have the butt against a solid object that does not move, and some have cracked the stock as a result. Have to agree with this (and the others). I use sandbags. When shooting a heavier recoil rifle such as a 30-06 I will put on a shoulder pad. The only time I use a vise is when cleaning and bore-siting.
