As for the lead sled...
I have never used a lead sled or any other fancy rest for that matter. I suppose there is a learning curve but not near what the learning curve is to shoot without one. I can see the point in using one to develop loads I guess.
My rests are really quite primitive and are pretty much what I would have in a hunting situation. I am the first to admit some days my targets are not something I want to show to the world, other days things seem to click. I am still a work in process and probably always will be. I want to get better at freehand shooting.
