Sounds like the dead spot, that some say is mythical and others believe in(yes I am one who believes this area of no mans land is for real!!!) I can' t say if he' ll make unfortunately, but you did what you could and can only hope that is the result. It happens, just learn from the experience and go get another crack at him!
