As to my old observance, It's how a lot of people buy stuff they never use. And I've known more than one person, with a garage full of "junk" instead of a vehicle or two.

As they say, I did it my way. I treated my "hobbies" as hobbies and never bought on credit. I only bought what "I needed" then and could use that very month. I would always buy the rifle, before I bought the dies. I could always use a rifle without dies, but I could never use a particular set of dies, without the rifle. It came down to the order of things.
