Got to this thread late. Been running feeders for a long time. IMO: The reason for a feeder is to get the hogs on your clock. The morning feed is often wasted, especially if you do not hunt during the day. My feeders are set to feed at sunset or about 30 minutes before sunset. If they feed too early the birds get a lot of the corn or beans.

Hogs usually come out just before dark. Some lone boars are different, they may come to a feeder at any time.
