I' m in agreement with those that suggest you try some " flatter shooting" loads in your .30-06....(and don' t be afraid to use the .243 with a good medium game load). Either will do very well for most circumstances when hunting whitetails. I' d give them a try before I went looking for another rifle for the stated purpose.
