RE: Tree Stand Hunters- How High??????
I have to chuckle to myself everytime I read that bowhunters install their stands high for the primary reason of having their scent go out and over the deer. That does not happen (scent going into the next county before it drops to the ground). At least not how some appear to believe it happens.
Regardless of how high you are, your scent (rafts) is dropping to the ground and the vegatation near you. In fact, you already left thousands upon thousands of scent particles on everything near your stand in the first minute you arrived at your stand, and thousands upon thousands more every minute you are present.
The wind currents and natural floating of your scent rafts, are causing your scent to be scattered afar in many directions, with the heaviest broadcast occurring in the direction(s) the air/wind is moving.
