Win some,Lose some
OK,Here we go.It' s Tuesday afternoon and I slip out of my shop to hunt a new property with my hunting partner Al.It' s 61 degrees, partly cloudy, wind at 6-8mph out of the NW with a cold frount coming in,perfect! We get into the woods, quiet as a thief in the night, and I set-up on a ridge that looks cover page for Bowhunter magazine.Theres acorns all over the place, two nice funnels,a thicket at the bottom, and enough deer trails that it looks like street map of downtown Baltimore. It' s 3:05pm and I' m all set.The deer start moving about 4:30,and by 6:00pm I' ve seen over 18 deer, bunch of does, couple of spikes,a small 4pt,then I see a decent 6pt at the top of the ridge, working his way down. After watching him for 25min,he gets into my 30yd kill zone.My LX sends a Shockwave though his shoulder and he piles up in the thicket. As I' m watching him,out of the corner of my eye,I see a 160 class,8pt,come RUNNING right to the spot where his buddy got shot, turned, and ran after the 6pt.I never knew he was there, and he did' nt know about me,neither.WOW,that was so cool, but I feel like an idiot for not seeing him before I shot the 6pt.There will be a next time, and this is why I love bowhunting!!!..Bob
