Off center firing pin on a marlin XL7?
I bought this gun about a month before gun season last year. I shot a box a remington 30-06 150gr core locks to sight it in and never had a miss fire. I got another box a 150gr core locks for hunting and ended up having 2 miss fires on 2 different bucks. I pulled the trigger nothing happened the fireing pin hit the primer very hard and from the eye it looked center. after that happen i put another round in the gun and it fired just fine at a target. Later that day another buck came by i pulled the trigger and again the fireing pin hit the primer and the shell did not go off. So at the end of season i mailed the 2 misfires back to remington and they just got back to be saying my fireing ping showed a light and extremely off center firing pin indent of only .013 inches. and the SAAMI recommened firing pin indentation for a center-fire rifle is .017 in the center of the primer cup. what do you guys think of this and do you think i should be giving marlin a call about the brand new gun?
