Questions on hog population control
I don't know much about hogs so please bear with me. We don't have a hog problem in Michigan. There has been a few escapes from game ranches and any wild hogs that are spotted can be shot on site.
I have read and seen on TV about hog out of control in Southern states but what I have seen on TV for hog control seems a be not enough to keep up with how fast hogs can reproduce.
Can a few guys and a team of dogs taking down a couple of hogs a night really make a dent in the population?
Cage traps make sence, snares are good, but I would be sitting out there at night with a rifle, a suppressor and night vison and just snipe those hogs. It just seems like there is faster ways to knock down the population. Is there?
And what is up with animal control services trying to catch and wrestle huge hogs? Why are they putting themselves in harms way? Wouldn't a 12 gauge shot gun with slugs be a much faster and safer way to take that hog out?
Just looking for some answers. Thanks everyone.
