I know this is kinda "old school" these days. I used to do stock work for a couple of shops before my kids came along. It's been 25 years since I did any checkering. My youngest son found this stock half shaped, and wondered if we could finish it for his 600 Mohawk .308 Win. with a 700 ADL trigger guard and bolt handle. Took a couple of months of here and there time. The wood came from big log I bought and had cut into slabs around 1980. This is more of a woods gun with that 18 1/2" barrel. Always shot well before, and I guess I didn't screw it up too bad. Shot between 3/4 and 1" for 3 shot groups today, just starting to play with loads. The boy is pretty happy with the gun.
