Can anyone support your opinions with scientific data? I have read the words "ethical" and "unethical" too many times in this thread. I do believe a .223 is more than enough to quickly kill a whitetail deer. We are not talking about cape buffalo here. I also don't believe that a .308 is going to help with recovery if you shoot it I the guts.

It is more about the bullet type and retained kinetic energy. I kill deer with a 60# bow with no issues at all. The last one only went 30 feet and expired.
