Punching Paper and Cold Weather
A little time in the past three mornings was used to punch 2 targets with 2 rifles. The rifles were left in the truck loaded over night. They were clean before the first shoot, but were left dirty for the next 2 days.
Two shots were taken with each rifle each morning
. The load in both rifles was 105g BH209, pushing a 300g Gold Dot, in a short black Harvester sabot, ignited by an STS primer.
The rifles were left in the cold during the trip, and when they were brought up to shoot, they frosted up immediately. It was uncomfortable carrying the target up the hill, because my hands felt like they were burning, holding onto the cold steel frame of the target holder. Shooting was done from the truck with my right elbow on the steering wheel, and the rifles on the window rest.
