First thing you need to do is shoot the gun! Learn how to hit with it and what your and its limitations are for making a clean shot. Slugs are brutal, on both the shooter and the shootee. I describe mine as deadly to anything in front of it and crippling to anything behind it. Don't overdo it without some recoil protection and breaks in between. A gut shot with a slug is just as bad as anything else. I am a big believer in slug guns! but they do take a bit of getting used to at the range.
I would for surely do this!! This year was my first year slug hunting and I used my gun a lot before from shooting clays and upland birds, but its a whole different game with slugs. When I shot my deer I didn't know what to expect but in the next couple days I felt the kick a slug gun had. Test it out before you hunt!! This late in the season you wanna find a field of corn or beans that haven't been harvested. This is where your going to see A LOT of deer.
