Default Braggin' Time - Forgive me !

For 10 years or so I had what I contend was a top drawer blood trailing Dachshund named Tex. In 2010, I laid him to rest at the ripe old age of 15. For about 3 years I had been training my "young" Dachshund , Mojo, along side Tex. Mojo has proven to me now that he's an ace tracker now.

This year he has found 11 of 12 deer that we have used him on. At least 4 of which I doubt we'd have found at all.

This past weekend he tracked a gut shot deer some 450 yards .... and only once did the 3 of us men find any blood sign. He picked up "blood" scent right where the white hair was all over the place .... and went straight to the deer. Took him maybe 5 minutes total. The shooter had looked for 2 hours !

He also found another buck that though double lunged with a Cor-Lokt 165 gr. , out of a 30.06 Spr., we saw only 2 tiny droplets of blood. This turned out to be a fine buck that all of us men who hunted for it in the dark agreed we would have been hard pressed to find at all. It went into very, very thick stuff, stayed on his feet about 125 yards and took a 90 deg. turn about 50 yards into the thicket.

Thanks for letting me brag on my pooch !
