The only way i would ever put water (Boiling) in any gun barrel if it was to get rid of plastic fouling. All those cleaners like T/C 13 and others contain water. Water and metal are not a good combination.

99% alcohol and Murphy's oil soap are a pretty good combination. 70% alcohol and 30% Murphy's oil soap mixed together. Pretty cheap to.
