The .454 kicks like a mule in the handgun, so if you are not into recoil veer away from it. I am not positive, but I know some companies are working on chambering lever guns in the round, and that will be awesome. That thing will work on any of those animals you mentioned, and then some. Other rounds to consider if you are buying something in that range are the .480 Ruger, the .475 Linebaugh, .500 S&W, and of course the " meager" .44 magnum. Good luck man!
