The rear tyned ones are called cultivators, these normally have powered wheels in the middle, are very capable of ripping up a lawn or any thing in its way, if you are just turning the soil over then stick to the tiller but if you are doing a bit landscaping work then a cultivator is more your machine.
As for makes we run Cammon tillers and cultivators (model C8 &C10) from a company called Tracmaster,(www.tracmaster.co.uk) the machine its self is Italian but we have no problems and they are in and out continuusley, Husquavarner (i think thats how you spell it) make one but it isnt very good, as long as you get one with a Honda engine on it you are half way there.
