I think getting a box of factory ammo for each gun and taking a trip to the range is in order. Take your son too and let him try a few rounds for each gun. Then you'll be better able to decide which one to sell, or if you'd rather get rid of both.
Take 4 targets ... 2 for you and 2 for your son and each of you fire both guns 5 times.
It will leave you 1/2 a box of shells for any potential buyer and help you see how each gun is or isn't worth it to you or your son.
Federal, Winchester and Remington all load for both, so with a few calls around you should find some factory anemic loads to try. It's just as well that you use the weak factory stuff until you test fire. If you've never fired either gun you might want to have them checked out first.
