I mention the following because I'm not having a problem with my breech plug and don't exactly follow what the solution is. I'm also fairly new to muzzle loading.
I shoot a CVA Apex .45 cal QRBP. The only hang fires or misfires I've had involved Black Mag XP powder. With Blackhorn 209 I had some misfires early on using Rem STS primers and cleaning the breech plug in one of those cups of breech plug cleaner.
Since switching to CCI 2109M primers and only using Hoppes 9 to clean the barrel and breech plug I have not had a misfire or nofire. I do not clean the flash channel with a drill bit at all while shooting. I do clean it with a drill bit by hand turning at the end of the day.
I put 20 to 30 shots through it each session at the range.
