I think what Tom might be talking about in reference to the TC Speed Breech is as builder already indicated, using the correct primer, with that plug. Because of its length cooler primer in colder weather could be a problem, creating hang fires and/or misfires. It really is not that BH is more temp sensetive than any other powder. The biggest problem is so much heat is robbed from the primer just warming the metal on the way to the powder. Part of that robbery is that the heat and pressure is unable to operate effeciently in the space provide.

As with most of the current production breech plugs - they were not designed for the BH animal. Leading Western Powders to create some special rules just to get it ignited in the majority of the guns a majority of the time.

Once the flash channel is opened to allow the current primers to work more efficiently and the flash hole is made to optimum size, the Speed Breech, actually any breech, can be made to function relieably with BH and still provide less blow back pressure on the primer.
