As it is, I just enjoy my hunting....and hunt for the upper end bucks in the area I'm in. I pass alot of small / med bucks every year, and usually only end up shooting does.
I hear that
Hunter, and it's pretty much my philosophy too.
I've sat in box stands over food plots and watched deer enough to be able to judge age fairly well - at least the difference between a year and a half old six or eight pointer and one that's two and a half or older. My rule is I will shoot the first six pointer or above that's at least two years old. After that I won't shoot another buck unless he's clearly better than the one I've already taken. I shoot two does a year to put meat in the freezer - three if I haven't taken a buck by the last week of the season.
Our bucks run small, but I'm a happy hunter and have no desire to travel to where the really big boys are. I get just as pumped shooting a doe.
