Greg makes an excellent point about if you see the bed they see you and I left that part out. I often setup during rut to rattle on ridge lines that don' t allow me direct line of sight to where I know the bucks bed. In my area where I hunt during rut it is rolling terrain and the bucks bed in the thick timbers below the ridges, thus getting fairly close on a slow methodical approach is easily obtainable. If you hunt areas of large, flat timber bases then your ability to sneak in real tight is comprimised, as he states get as cloase as you can without spooking the game.
Good luck
