It's okay to talk about the National Forest in Virginia. Heck, anyone can see it on a Rand McNally road atlas. It goes from Winchester/Front Royal, VA all the way down I-81 past Roanoke, and continues all the way through Virginia! It's something like 1.8 million acres. Honest... I have yet to bump into another hunter (aside from the regular guys at our deer camp).
I remember 38 years ago going to Virginia, Bath county in George Wash. Nat. forest stayed for2 weeks in a camper back a long dirt road. I was young at the time and remember walking for hrs. and never seeing another hunter. In fact one day there was a report of a hunter getting lost up in the hills and wasn't found till next day. I loved and enjoyed the experience greatly and cherish the memories from those hunts. Although I'm in Ohio I still hunt public ground and on a 2 week vacation recently I seen a total of 3 hunters over that period of time and 2 of those were in a parking lot leaving.
