I have a 7mm-08 and this has always been one of my favorite calibers for deer hunting. That was until i bought a 308. I know, i know, 308 = boring but i don't care. To me its probably the best round for hunting deer available. Back to the 7mm-08... the recoil is about the same out of my rifle as the 308 (both Savage rifles) but the rifle shooting the 7 has been showing some pretty poor accuracy. Now comes the problem, i can only find Winchester 140 7mm-08 at local stores for about $28 a box. I want to try other ammo to see if that improves accuracy but can't find much selection unless i want to pay close to $40 a box. That is my beef with the 7mm-08. Other than that, some consider it the best deer caliber around. Light rifles, light recoil, and high BC.
