Do like sabotloader said, Get some JB Bore compound and give it 150-200 strokes and clean it out, dry and oil. Bore butter isnt a good lube to use to prevent rust. Get a good quality oil like montana xtreme bore oil, birchwood casey barricade or such.
Thanks alot Mountaindevil. I never even seen nor heard of the JB compound or the Montana Xtreme. Must be the dealers don't put it on their shelves. I just looked it up on the internet, seems like it gets alot of good reviews and the prices on both are reasonable. Do you think I have done any damage to my barrel by not cleaning it right from the factory? Do all muzzleloaders come with this grease inside the barrels when they are new, even the inlines?
I just want to thank everyone that replied to my post. For as long as I have known, the members on this forum are extremely informative and I knew that the blackpowder section was the place to go for this issue. Thank you all, I will keep you posted on what happens next.
