I used 1x32mm and 1x20mm for the muzzleloader season as until recently, (this year in fact) scopes were not allowed during muzzleloader season. But I use quick release rings, so each rifle also had a magnified scope.

Unlike some, I am not a firm believer in expensive scopes. Granted a few of my rifles have Nikon Omegas, Bushnell 3200, etc.. but most of them have a very low dollar scope. One of my favorite is the Simmons Pro Diamond 4x32mm. It is a shotgun scope, and has great eye relief. It has excellent glass and with a 4x scope anything out to 150 yards is considered in range for me.

Another scope I tried and liked is a $19.99 Simmons 2.5x20mm Pro Sport. I just had to see if I could break that thing. I mounted it on a Wolverine. What a nice little brush rifle and tree stand rifle with that scope. After a couple hundred shots, it is still holding up.

A third cheap scope I shoot is a Traditions 1.5-6x40mm illuminated scope. I got this one because I wanted to play with the lighted sights. It actually is a very good scope. It holds true and has good glass. For $49.99 it was a deal.

If you have to go with a cheap scope that Simmons 4x32mm Pro Diamond is hard to beat. If you want to spend a little more money, then throw a Nikon Pro Staff 2-7x32mm on them. Another scope that will not break the bank. Also I saw they had some Nikon 4x32mm Pro Staff scopes on sale for $89.00 at Natches.com. I think that would make a great scope for any rifle.
