In illinois rifle's for deer are illegal. I use a shotgun for everything and its old but in great shape. its a 870 wingmaster with a modified barrel, no choke tubes here. Jus shot my buck at over 75 yards with a smoothbore and open sights, double lung. Most guns shoot where you point, jus depends how good you point lol i would suggest a shotgun what kind is up to you and your budget. Slugs should be shot out of the most open choke you have. if you've got the money you can't go wrong with the Italians!
