I have three rifles that are good shooters and each one is finicky w/powder choices. Weather where I live (humidity) also affects them and I use Swiss or German BP on drier days and American powder on the humid days as it doesn't seem to breakdown as quick. These guys are right - 3f may work for a certain conical that responds to a little higher breech pressure, but has been more normal and has a better average for my guns. Use 'em both and good luck!
