Hello all. I have a Springfield Armory "GI model" 1911. Overall I love the gun, but I have noticed that the grips move.

The grips are the stock wood grips and the movement is very small. I have tried tightening the screws, but the grips still move. It is getting to the point where I am afraid I will crack the wood if I try and tighten them any further.

Is it a characteristic of 1911s for the grips to move? I live in a very dry climate - Phoenix, Arizona. I wonder if the wood has shrunk from lack of moisture and that has created some "wiggle room" around the screws.
