My pack for deer hunting:
topographical map of the hunting area
compass
water
lunch
a few layers of clothing depending on weather
waterproof gear
deer drag harness
bottle of doe p
can call (it's a doe-in-heat bleat call)
plastic field dressing gloves
pack saw (for cutting the breast bone)
extra ammo (not that I've ever needed it!)
camo net for making a makeshift ground blind
pack field chair
tripod
hunting license and hunter safety card, pen
headlight (a flashlight that straps to my forehead)
I also wear these items while carrying the pack:
binoculars
blaze orange hat and vest (different kinds depending on weather)
knife
And of course I carry my rifle!
This is my standard load, which I carry whenever I'm less than a few miles from my truck. If I'm going WAAAAY out into the Colorado mountains (like elk hunting, which I rarely do anymore) then the list gets bigger. That's when I throw in the fire starting equipment, etc.
