I would recommend following the maufacturers recommendations first then tweaking your setup from there. Never go over the max recommended load. And if they say it can take 150 grains of powder don't assume that is the best amount to use. Some guns are more accurate with a little lighter powder charge and bullet combination. It helps to talk to your friends and see if you can swap a couple of bullets and powder charges so you don't always have to buy a full container of powder and bullets. Play around with different setups to see which one your gun likes the best.

I have shot 100 grains of pyrodex and a 250gr. sabot round out of mine, and have had passthrough shots at 150 yards.

A couple of guys here at work just started using blcakhorn 209, and swear they will never use anything else. I have not tried it yet since I am already dialed in on with my current set up, but will before next year.
