I am not familiar with the base layers you are talking about. Here is what I wear for hunting in VA. I wear a poly thermal underwear which is a cheap imitation of Under Armor. (UA is way to expensive in my book). I also have a pair of poly liner socks under my wool socks. Then I wear a thick camo shirt. If it is really cold I put on a fleece and then my hunting coat. If it is really, really cold, I wear a pair of insulated bib overalls. The insulated bibs make all the difference for me when it gets real cold. I wish I had found those years ago.
