I personally have never tried rattling... I may give it a try sometime this year just to see if it works. I am from indiana our area is flat and we have 30 acre woods or so and lots of wide open fields in between. I have had a lot of success in the past years using the primos buck roar calls they seem to work really great. I used it to get the buck in my avatar closer to my tree last friday. I like to be vocal tho if they can hear you they will probably come check it out.
