I shot and lost the nicest buck to date on the first frosty morning. The funny thing is I heard every little crunch in the woods from all the other deer and squirrels but not one sound from him. He came in from behind me and i did' t even know he was there until he lunged out into the tractor road 12 yards away. I didn' t get a clean shot until he was 22 yards quartering away where my spitfire didn' t penetrate and ended up wounding him. There is something about those mornings that keep me alert now.
