Well Coloratdo, it started out as a black powder cartridge but has evolved into a very potent smokeless powder big game cartridge. There are currently 3 load classifications for the 45-70: #1 or original loadings for trapdoor style actions, #2 for lever action rifles like the Marlin 1895, and #3 loads for Ruger #1 style actions which can approach 458 Win Mag performance.
The BFR is a modern revolver that can supposedly handle the #2 class loadings. I am wondering if anyone in here has loaded for this revolver.
