Yes water proof is different than water repellant. For the most part if is ain't Gortex are going to get wet. The plastic rubber material stuff will keep the rain off but your sweat and end up wet anyway. After years of living in Gortex don;t think you can't get wet in that too. Water can wick up your sleeves. around pants legs or any place there is an opening. Gortex used to offer some repellant you could spray but I haven't seen it in a few years. I have used several of the Campdry/Scotchguard type products and they seem to help.. Like mentioned you may want to spray the garment several weeks ahead of the hunt as the smell hangs on for awhile.
